Two billion children inhabit our globe. Why GCF?
one billion have never heard about Jesus
The Global Children’s Forum (GCF) is a growing network of globally-focused children’s ministry agencies. Focussing on the evangelism and discipleship of children, GCF desires to see every child engage with Jesus, through God’s word.
It has two areas of core focus: 1. Creative, prayerful and strategic ‘blue sky thinking’ to challenge the status quo and seek God’s wisdom for more effective evangelism and discipleship; 2. Major multilateral partnerships to grow the Kingdom in ways that would not be possible alone.
GCF formed in response to the growing realization, articulated by the Children’s Issue Group at the Lausanne Forum in 2004, that 1 billion children in the world have never heard about Jesus and that approximately 70% of local churches in the world lack the resources to evangelize and disciple children. It was also recognized that between agencies there was considerable overlap and duplication of resources, a lack of sharing and a lack of partnership. GCF brought together agencies and leaders to seek God, and discuss and initiate solutions in relation to these disturbing statistics and strategic opportunities.
